If you're looking for similar software like Rockland Writer, we highly recommend Simon Hayne's yWriter. Simon has written over a dozen novels in addition to writing his wonderful software yWriter. You can read about the history of yWriter and how it came to be on Simons' site. We've used it for a number of years and its wonderful software. But much like what Simon went through when he eventually wrote yWriter , we ended up writing our own software as well!
